Pair of Silver-Gilt Snake Bracelets
A matched pair of traditional Minangkabau bracelets crafted in silver with a warm gilt overlay. Each bracelet is designed in the form of a coiled serpent, the bodies wrapped in two full turns around a rigid circular band. The surface is decorated with finely chased scale patterns, alternating between diagonal and horizontal motifs, reflecting local Sumatran metalworking aesthetics.
The heads of the serpents are elaborately modeled, featuring pronounced ridges, wide snouts, and inset red stones representing the eyes. The expressive treatment of the serpent heads—stylized yet sculpturally bold—is characteristic of Minangkabau jewellery symbolism. The bracelets also retain their original safety chains, indicating that they were intended for secure ceremonial wear.
