18th-century Fine Enamelled Kada

A finely enamelled kada (bangle) inset with foiled white sapphires in the traditional kundan setting style. Each gem is mounted within pure gold foil, accentuating its luminosity. The terminals are shaped as makara heads — mythological sea creatures symbolic of strength, fertility, and cosmic balance.

The interior is exquisitely decorated with Jaipur floral enamelling, rendered in red, green, and white hues — a signature of 18th-century Rajasthani craftsmanship. Such bangles were prized for both their visual opulence and their ritual significance, often forming part of a bride’s trousseau or noblewoman’s ceremonial regalia.

This piece exemplifies the synthesis of Mughal refinement and Rajasthani artistry, where enamel and gem-setting traditions converged to create jewels of enduring beauty and cultural symbolism.
