A GOLD RING WITH SRI RAMA NAMA INSCRIPTION
A solid gold devotional ring featuring a circular bezel engraved in high relief with the sacred inscription Śrī Rāma Nāma, invoking the name of Lord Rāma. The central inscription is arranged in a stacked format within a defined circular field, bordered by a raised beaded ring. Surrounding this is an outer band decorated with scrolling foliate motifs, a characteristic design element of Karnataka goldsmithing during the late Vijayanagara and early Mysore periods.
The ring is crafted with a thick, tapering shank indicating both durability and prestige. The combination of devotional text, circular mandala-like layout, and ornamental border reflects its dual function as a personal amulet and a status symbol. Such rings were traditionally worn by Vaishnava devotees or gifted during temple rituals, symbolizing protection, piety, and allegiance to Lord Rāma.
