A TURBAN ORNAMENT (Turra)

Gold on a lac core, enamelled and set with diamonds in gold and silver kundan.
The Guldastah or posy head of the turra is set with a cluster of six flowers in bloom
surrounding a central flower all inset with flat-cut diamonds. Each flower is held in
place with an enamelled tapering leaf rising from an enamelled gold cup.Each leaf is
gold decorated with Lucknow green enamel; It is worn with the stem tucked into the
turban. The turra originally was mounted with pearls.

This turra seems to resemble that worn by the Maharajah of Indore and may well
have been commissioned by the family.
